Celebrity Rides - Inspiration

After a recent three week trip to Zimbabwe, when the opportunity came up in my transport class to design a vehicle for a celebrity. I really wanted to design a vehicle that was inspired by my experiences. Robert Mugabe was chosen, because quite frankly he’s the only known ‘celebrity’ person outside the country. The country has a massive wealth gap, you would be driving along, and see the poorest people and this would be contrasted by a brand new Mercedes AMG. The roads are terrible and the whole place in run down. Certainly a tough, military inspired vehicle is what he needs and would certainly suit his personality.

Zimbabwe Notes…

-worst roads in the world (massive pot holes in the middle of Harrare)

-Mugabe’s residents in Harrare protected by guards (road is also closed of at 6pm daily with strip spikes)

-roadway is cleared when he is being driven around

-extremely hard to find spare car parts

-diesel is often hard to find (a large petrol tank is a must)

-inspiring shona sculptures with interesting forms
